The infamous video, which featured topless female dancing, Barbarella (3) - Dont Stop The Dance (Cassette), was also aired frequently in the UK on the Barbarella (3) - Dont Stop The Dance (Cassette) defunct music video request channel, Lifestyle Satellite Jukeboxin — However, apart from becoming minor hits in the Netherlands and Finland where their debut album went gold, they were not an international breakthrough. A year later at the time of their second album Don't Stop The Dancethe line-up had changed slightly.
However, while rave and contemporary rhythm and blues were all the rage across the European charts, Barbarella had done nothing to update their simple, melodic s flavoured Euro disco, and despite the catchy title track lead single, the project flopped and was abandoned, with the girls going their separate ways. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Highly unimpressed with this bar. I had heard so many great things about Barb's but when I arrived I was disappointed.
The ground was gross, the bathrooms were not kept up with, and their dance floor is too small for the amount of people in that establishment. The positive is they had cheap drinks. My friend described this place as "you have to be really drunk to enjoy it here" and she must be right because I did not like Barb's.
Happy birthday barbarella!! I always have a wonderful time here, Thursday is 90's night Barbarella (3) - Dont Stop The Dance (Cassette) they're open until 3am!! You can get a bottle of champagne for 20 bucks and drink it on the dance floor.
Okay more Britney!!!!!!!! Barbs is what I like to call "the club for people with two left feet". Never been bumped into so many times before like I do at this place. Not pleasant and this is coming from a club type of person. My friends love this place so much, but it's just not my cup of tea. I do have to admit, their colorful dance floor that lights up is pretty cool. I also like that that they are open pretty much every day of the week. I've been on Tuesday for emo night which is by far my least favorite.
The music took me back to my high school years, but it's kinda hard to get in the mood with so many sweaty people crazily bumping into you. Like so sweaty that you get wet. Most of the time, my friends and I end up feeling a little too crowded and go outside to their rooftop patio which has a great view of the Houston skyline.
Trust me when I say I've tried liking this place! I've been here so many times Especially on Saturdays for 80's night when they stay open past 2 am. The place is cool for sure and I can see why so many people love it. It has a lively, Barbarella (3) - Dont Stop The Dance (Cassette), no frills, non-douchey vibe that most dance clubs don't have.
The music is just different than typical night clubs and by different, I mean not the booty shaking kind. Which Barbarella (3) - Dont Stop The Dance (Cassette) probably a good thing because we need the variety in dance clubs. I think they have 90's night on Thursday so maybe that's what I need to try! I hadn't expected to find myself here on a Friday night, so I was just wearing my ordinary street clothes, not at all dressed to dance or anything.
And it didn't matter here; I loved the vibe, the crowd, the light-up dance floor, and the unique choice of [funky] music. We got there at around 11pm and didn't have to pay a cover, which was nice, and the dance floor didn't start filling up until it got closer to midnight. Definitely a fun night out, especially because each night seems to have a different music theme. I really want to stop by for '80s night on a Saturday next time I'm here! Fuck this place lmfao. Paying a cover charge to get a drink before last call and being denied is insulting.
This place smells like shameful sex and terrible decisions. Last time I waste my time and money here. Best music and drinks out there!!
By far my favorite club Great dance club and after hour club open till 3am good location small parking lotbut lots of parking on adjacent streets, great DJ and crowd, very energetic.
I appreciate the diversity of race and age at this club. But for me, it's all in the crowd, and DJ, both were excellent! Dance floor was flooded with water an employee hinted it was from the backed up pipes and they didn't close the club Usually a fine time. However, on Friday July 12th they seem to have severe plumbing problems.
We arrived and could see and smell the mop bucket behind the bar. Women's restroom was closed so everyone was using the men's not really a problem for me. Then the men's restroom closed and they directed Barbarella (3) - Dont Stop The Dance (Cassette) across the street to Rich's where they didn't mention you had to pay to use the restroom. A guy got in trouble for peeing outside. I'm sure more people did it, but just didn't get caught.
Be responsible Close the bar, get a porta-potty or pay the bar you're directing your patrons to so your customers don't have to pay. If people knew what the hell backed up onto the dance floor, they could've at least made an informed decision to stay or leave. Drinks were decently made.
I come here for after hours am normally and love the music they play. I don't know why but last night I was able to go in but my friend 20 years of age couldn't get in.
We've been here multiple times, a full year to be exact and never had an issue. If under age drinking was a concern they should know that they shouldn't even be selling alcohol passed 2am I'm just a bit upset from last night, I guess they won't be seeing me there anymore Can't complain here CHEAP drinks, great music and a variety of crowds. I came here with a few friends in a Friday night we got here a bit early at first they played new modern music then later on in the night they mixed a bit of hip hop.
That's alway appreciated because of the difference genre. Pretty big parking on the street. Be mindful it free some people out on the sidewalk will pretend to be a parking attendant, giving advice they are just wanting tip. Other than that pretty laid back place and we enjoyed her night. I went Saturday night with a group of us.
Do not trust them with your cards. I will be calling tonight to ask why they just think they can charge whatever they want. Bad business!!!! Fun place because of the DJ but the floor is trashed, slippery, sticky. It's a club so I get that it will be dirty but for how packed they are, seems like housekeeping is understaffed.
Came here after the bar. Barbarella is open later than bars and music is great. Drinks are a bit overpriced. Would defiantly come again. What a throw-back to authentic 80's everything! Music, videos, and even folks in the crowd dressed in 80's fashion and make-up. Drinks were reasonable and there was no cover when we arrived. The open late and I didn't see any food offered. Very limited seating. Music is loud. Go to dance! You might want to get a little turnt up before arriving, you'll be waiting at the bar forever before you get your first drink!
Ever wanted your Pandora station to play a mixture of music from all different genres without you having to switch the station? Just be prepared to sweat all night and become friends with the many people that bump into you several times on the dance floor. It ain't a party until someone else's drinks get spilled on you.
Barbarella will always be the dance club where you could have a great time to dance the night away without a care. There's always all types of crowd coming to here because there's only so many big dance clubs in Houston where the drink is decent price, the light, the sound, and it's moderately air conditioned building that all feels just right. If you get in before 12AM, there will be no door charge! Mirage Mirage by Spirit Fest. Patience by Sondre Lerche.
A new record from Sondre Lerche is packed full of big hooks, bigger feelings, and twinkly instrumentation more minimalist than baroque. Explore music. Stephen Segovia. Stephen Segovia Great production! BurgerRecords Gemz! Ty Stamp. Pilatus Polypiel. James Cook. Francisco Luis Prieto. Mikey Conklin. Charlotte Williams.
