Release Date October 28, Track Listing. Down to the Wire. Neil Young. Broken Arrow. Expecting to Fly. Sugar Mountain. I Am a Child. The Loner. In retrospect some of the bizarre experiments with electro-pop Trans could be forgiven once Young explained it was his way of communicating with his son, stricken with cerebral palsy. And as he gears up to take to the stage in Hyde Park with Bob Dylan this summer, what better time to assess the legend?
View Deal. Accessible and dreamy on the surface, Harvest was dark and claustrophobic underneath. Certainly it polarised opinion LP) for the NME to print two separate reviews, with Ian MacDonald defending it from charges of self-pity brought by fellow hack Steve Clarke.
Emotionally racked and set to the sparest of piano arrangements, Young is at his most candid on the stumbling title track and the pained Roll Another Number. It sold poorly but remains a cornerstone of the Young legend.
Nothing summed up its schizophrenic brilliance more than My My, Hey Heya paean to Johnny Rotten and Elvis Presley both acoustic and in barn-burning glory at opposite ends of the album.
Cranking the amps high, Young and Crazy Horse have rarely rocked harder than on the proto-grunge of Powderfinger — a song first offered, believe it or not, to Lynyrd Skynyrd, LP). But its songs like "The Old Laughing Lady" that remain so moving - a gorgeous melody and observation of life even if it is sad - "I Believe In You" is exactly the same. Famously edited down to minutes from the LP's minutes - and given LP) their is space - it's odd that Young hasn't taken the chance to reinstate it fully here like he has done on those other unnecessary chopped-to-fit tracks?
But I suspect he likes this version - maybe the "Jesus I saw you walking on the river Certainly when the studio brilliance of "Old Man" kicks in - the contrast between it and "Old Man" is both stark and effective. Speaking of "Harvest" - the four from it featured on "Decade" only hammer home his brilliance at that time - each one sounding spectacularly good. The acoustic slightly-stoned ramshackle miserable-git feel of 's "Tonight's The Night" was in fact recorded in most of it in one day apparently but only released two years later.
Along with On The Beach's stayed-up-all-night "Walk On" Neil rocks out and the fabulous plucker "For The Turnstiles" Ben Keith on Dobro with Neil on Banjo - the combo of that early to mid Seventies material makes for a fabulous listen that still somehow feels new and fresh. Those are smartly followed by a previously unreleased double-whammy - an Americana Alt-country rocker called "Winterlong" and a beautiful Acoustic Guitar and Pedal Steel ballad called "Deep Forbidden Lake" - both cuts surely being the big prizes here and both sounding huge without being over-trebled for the sake of it.
Even Richard Nixon's got soul It ends on the four boys harmonising on "Long May You Run" - beautifully rendered here. We missed that deep ship on the long steep climb Priced at a frankly paltry eight quid on Amazon and obvious album-title cliches aside - this 2CD Reissue of "Decade" with its spangly new Remasters really is a 'Harvest' with a 'Heart of Gold'.
A bargain and then some Just a quick commentcompared to the previous issue of this CD the sound is stunning! Bought it for my partner as his old copy was damaged. He is so pleased with the new copy. One person found this helpful. Bought this when it first came out, over forty years later all I can say is that this remaster is sonically terrific. Best of all it sends you back to the early Young LPs and in remastered form they are glorious.
Nearly as good as early Dylan, neck and neck with early Van Morrison, streets ahead of the crap that followed. This is great Burned - Neil Young - Decade (Vinyl for fans of niel young. Many good known music classics from Neil Young. Historical document. This is a replacement for a previously Burned - Neil Young - Decade (Vinyl but lost edition.

Translate review to English. Decade is from Neil Young's first 10 Years. Plus Neils solo output. The remastering is excellent. This is a great place to start if you are just discovering Neil Young. Great album. Exactly as described. Would definitely deal again. Load more international reviews. Que dire du contenu. La pochette sleeve donne du cachet. Leider folgten keine Fortsetzungen.
The single best Neil Young title just got better! Decade, first released on LP inwas a triple LPassembling the best of Neil's work from to It also contained five previously unreleased tracks, and also included the non-LP B-side Sugar Mountain, which had never been on an LP in spite of the fact that it had been used as a B-side on five occasions!
Until June 23,Neil's fans had to make do with a cd version issued circa ; this cd, like many of Neil's back catalog of titles, had sound quality that was barely passable. This new edition, issued June 23,rectifies that situation. We finally have an edition of Decade where the sound quality matches the top rate music that all N. If you own the old version of this title and are wondering if the new, edition has great sound, the answer is yes!
If you're looking for this title in a store, be aware that the new version comes in a mini-LP style cover, whereas the old version is housed in the brilliant box style plastic jewel box. The remaster of Decade is definitely worth considering if you are a Neil Young enthusiast or just getting into his music.
A good chunk of people considering this purchase probably already own the old CD release. This new remaster is much clearer than that release with rich dynamics and instrument separation.
