As the title suggests--there's a number of rare ska tracks 44 on CD for the first time, 20 officially unavailable for over a decade, 15 previously unissued here along with other fine alternate tracks of prime ska--some "Smokey Ska" released as "Smoking Ska" by Baba Brooks, and My True Confession" by The Silvertones which may be familiar in slightly different versions.
All tracks were produced by Duke Reid in Jamaica in '' I wish there was information on the tracks, especially the rarer ones, but the music is so good and that's whats ultimately important. Ska fans should check out this set. For the money its a great deal--a lot of great music along with rare Duke Reid* And The Silvertones And Tommy McCook & The Supersonics - True Confession / More Love (Vinyl).

The first 3 CDs take the listener from ska to rocksteady to reggae while the 4th CD has alternate takes and rarities - some of which have been released as limited edition vinyl. The whole set is housed in a compact but very attractively presented box. The box includes an excellent booklet with good photos and an interesting history of Duke Reid and his Treasure Isle label.
Each Duke Reid* And The Silvertones And Tommy McCook & The Supersonics - True Confession / More Love (Vinyl) is in a separate sleeve with replica period artwork and printing. There are tracks and while no-one will like every one, the overall standard is excellent with a mix of familiar and lesser known tunes.
Very highly recommended. A fantastic collection of Treasure Isle classics and a few less well known beauties. The packaging is excellent and the booklet very informative. If you don't have any of the Treasure Isle CDs this is a must by, and a bargain too.
If you have other compilations I doubt you'll have all thats on offer here. Get purchasing! If you don't have these Rock Steady riddims - check them out. You will recognise them for sure! Every track is a hidden gem. I remember my mum singing this after I played this vinyl 45 back in and I said 'Do you know what you're singing about? Bless Trojan for releasing these exquisite Duke Reid* And The Silvertones And Tommy McCook & The Supersonics - True Confession / More Love (Vinyl) and iconic reggae riddims for another generation to discover.
So easy to 'dip' to This 4-CD set is an absolute bargain! As a long-time adherent of Jamaican ska and its various tributaries, one thing had somehow never struck me until I perused the track-listing here. Turns out many of my favourite songs were actually Treasure Isle productions. There's not much point extolling the many virtues of the tracks laid down here for our delight and delectation as if you're browsing this you're likely to already know and love the stuff.
Suffice it to say there's barely a duff one amongst 'em. Looking to explore the genre for the first time? One person found this helpful. Load more international reviews. Incredible value for '60's reggae - especially as there are only about 4 tracks I already have on other compilations - no big chart hits but a few familiar cover versions or songs like "The Tide Is High" by The Paragons well known from others covering them.
This is one hell of a bargain its absolutely fantastic lots of gems lots of classics tunes going mad in my head. Some very well known but most of which I had never heard of. Great value for money in my opinion. Attractive cardboard slipcase. Informative booklet. Very happy with purchase.
There's so many of these compilations it's hard to compare, this isn't the best or worst of the ones I own. What's given it a 4 is there are a few tracks that haven't appeared on previous compilations. This is a fantastic set of songs. Great condition and speedy delivery of a joyous and varied collection.
Satisfying very good. Great cd. You've read the top international reviews. Customers who bought this item also bought. Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1. Freedom - The Anthology Gay Feet.
