The face opened into a long, smooth hallway, guiding me inside. I felt giddy with excitement. My wet hair whipped my back as I breezed down the line. Here I was, a grown-ass woman in a neon rash vest, doing exactly what I wanted. I was certain that I had just had the revelation that would change the rest of my life. But as the wave petered out and my board skimmed to a standstill in the shallows, I jumped into the water and landed, heel first, on something that felt like a staple gun. I would have mistaken the pain for a run-in with a jagged patch of reef, only it seemed to be getting worse by the second.

I stopped paddling, sat up on my board and pulled my tingling foot in close to my face, like you see baboons do in nature documentaries. Then I saw Zac screaming my name and power paddling toward me. He squeezed my heel and a little stream of blood trickled from a tiny red dot under my foot.

Even the word seemed foreign, Like Datt - The Last Kind - Revelations (Cassette). This has to be a mistakeI thought. My body stopped fighting the news sooner than my mind — even in the water, I could feel myself sweating like an old cheese, Like Datt - The Last Kind - Revelations (Cassette). I sat there, considering my two options: lay down in corpse pose and die here, floating on my board like some kind of Viking king, or try to make it to camp and die somewhere along the road, facedown on the asphalt.

As far as I could tell, it was game over. I lay flat to the board, my arms vibrating, trying to remember how to paddle. I kicked my feet up in the air behind me for extra momentum, the tainted one burning from the inside out. I threw my board to the ground, having deliriously lugged it all the way back. Need a coffee? I was doubled over, panting hot air into my kneecaps. In what I assumed were my final moments, there was no grainy montage of beautiful memories.

No hazy scenes of my dad lifting me on to a horse as a kid, or my mom placing a cool hand on my brow while I was home sick. Instead, I felt angry. Are you either of those? I made it to the airport 20 minutes before my flight took off. I shakily boarded the plane, hobbling down the aisle like I had a peg leg, and sat grinning at the ceiling.

I left him and our new roster of clients completely hanging. But I was certain there was more than clever taglines waiting for me on the other side. My mid-surf revelation, and all the immense pain and pleasure that came with the aftermath, had helped me see how far I still had to go before I could decouple the person I was from the things I did.

Those narratives had always been woven so tightly together for me. So I took a low-key, part-time job for a while. I painted and wrote and Googled pictures of stonefish. Waiting for you to hit rock bottom. How sometimes the most unavoidable pain comes from the things that are hardest to see. In another, last-minute addition, curators stacked bundled copies of the Herald and El Nuevo Herald in columns 10 feet high at the gallery entrance to reflect another altered reality.

The others were printed by a competitor, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, after the Herald closed its production plant and stopped publishing a Saturday print edition in a pair of cost-saving moves. It also documents the often wrenching evolution behind the headlines for the Herald and the business of news-gathering and publishing in Miami as well as for the city the newspaper Like Datt - The Last Kind - Revelations (Cassette) covered since its launch, Allen and co-curator Malcolm Lauredo said.

The new headquarters was hailed as a harbinger of the transformational growth Miami was soon to experience, even if not necessarily in the way anyone expected. The company plans to lease temporary offices until it can find a long-term newsroom and office space. Since March, its staff has worked remotely as a safety measure amid the pandemic. But the exhibit is also designed to reflect the continuity of the critical enterprise.

Every day while the exhibit is up, through October, a bundle of fresh Miami Herald papers will be delivered to the museum and stacked in the gallery. As the company and news industry switch to digital-first publication, the Herald is expanding its reach to millions more readers than in its print days, even if profitability has yet to follow. We are grateful for the commitment and extraordinary effort and vision of John Allen, Malcolm Lauredo and the entire museum staff.

Refracting world events through a Miami point of view, the pages include some must-haves: The sinking of the Titanic in ; U. Under the lead headlines sit stories that also helped define their eras, including the drafting of Elvis Presley into the Army in and the death of actor Rock Hudson from AIDS inas well as the passing flotsam and trivia that mirror the changing mores and interests of readers and helped complete the varied front-page menu of news of the day.

There are big local news banners as well, of course: The failed FDR assassination attempt in Bayfront Park in by an anarchist. The fatal shootout among rival narcos at Dadeland Mall. Several front pages trace the violence and upheaval that shook Miami in the epochal year of and find their trenchant echoes today: The McDuffie riots after cops who fatally beat a Black motorcyclist were acquitted by an Like Datt - The Last Kind - Revelations (Cassette), out-of-town jury.

The massive Mariel boatlift from a repressive Cuba. The surge of desperate refugees from a repressive Haiti on flimsy boats that too often ended in tragedy. You can see the difference in the paper, in the reporting.

The film narration boasts that six helicopters could land at once on its rooftop airstrip. It likens the building to a small self-contained city, with a hour cafeteria and hundreds of employees working it its newsroom, business operations and vast pressroom to produce 11 editions a day. If Revelation is dated to AD 95, which has been the traditional dating for the last 1, years, then this would render preterism obsolete to Bible believers. We date the book of Revelation some time during the end of the reign of Emperor Domitian (AD 95).
